I am in Serbia on a press trip to report on the cycling in this very welcoming country. I am going to start with a very quick synopsis of my first evening and impressions.
Having arrived at the hotel we quickly got showered and went out on a night time tour of the city with a a very informative guide getting the balance between too much information and not enough just right. We stopped at the The Church of Saint Sava located on the Vračar plateau in Belgrade. It is one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world and still under construction internally. It has so far taken many decades with the people of the city preferring to finance it themselves rather than through a benefactor. It was quite incredible in is scale, magnificence and beauty.
From here we drove around the city en-route to www.ambarrestaurant.com, an wonderful restaurant overlooking the Danube. I loved the food which came in various courses and was accompanied by Serbian wine which was delicious!
