Welcome to Alderholt Mill, situated on the edge of The New Forest National Park, on the Hampshire – Dorset borders.

Alderholt Mill is a picturesque working Water Mill set in the lovely Dorset countryside, a real escape from the everyday pressures. An ideal spot in which to relax and unwind and a great situation from which to explore not only Dorset but also West Hampshire, Salisbury and the Wiltshire Downs and of course the New Forest. We are in easy reach of the south coast, just a short drive from Bournemouth and Poole.

The Mill is situated on an island formed by the River Allen, a small tributary that joins the River Avon at the nearby town of Fordingbridge.

There is a large garden with plenty of water features, a wildlife pond, bog garden, and stream where wildlife abounds. Kingfishers and herons are frequent visitors.

Private fishing is available. Grayling and Trout are two of the species in the river, and we can supply a bait fridge and lock up for fishing tackle. Early breakfasts are available for the real fishing enthusiasts.

A Wi-Fi connection is available throughout the property.

Cream Teas and our own flour

During the summer season, we open our tea room for freshly baked cream teas every Saturday and Sunday from 2pm – 6pm. We are also open for cream teas on bank holidays during the summer.

Sit and listen to the trickling of the streams, looking out over the beautiful English countryside whilst enjoying a quintessential part of British tradition.

Our cream teas are prepared using quality local produce including freshly ground flour from the mill itself. For the more curious amongst you, we also have regular milling demonstrations on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm between Easter through to the end of August. Our flour is also available to purchase both at the mill and in local outlets.

The wheat we mill is grown locally, keeping down the diesel miles. We have therefore been awarded the New Forest Marque – a sign and guarantee of local produce.

Millers End

Miller’s End ground floor apartment

This is a ground floor apartment offering one double bedroom with en-suite bathroom (shower over bath), a delightful sitting room with a large fireplace and electric log-burning stove. This room is comfortably furnished to a high standard.

Miller’s End boasts a smartly fitted kitchen/breakfast room with microwave, fridge/freezer electric cooker and all the usual and necessary equipment. There is a wealth of original oak beams throughout giving a really olde world and cosy feel to the property.

Electric storage heating and colour TV, radio, DVD and CD player. Storage heater and hot water costs are included in the rental.

All linen is included in the rental and beds will be made up before arrival. There is a washing machine on site for guests to use. There is a large garden with plenty of seating and free access to a B.B.Q for alfresco cuisine. Electricity is by £1.00 coin meter. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at our discretion.

Mid Mill

Mid-Mill Self Catering Apartment

Mid-Mill is our ground floor apartment and is the link building between the old Mill and the main house.

The accommodation offers a double room which can be either arranged as a double or twin with a large picture window looking out over the rear garden with its pond and water meadow beyond.

Mid Mill offers a galley style kitchen equipped with electric cooker, fridge with icebox and a microwave, all necessary crockery and cutlery. From this room there is direct access into the rear garden via a little bridge over the Mill tailrace with the 12ft waterwheel immediately on the left.

The sitting room has a fireplace with electric log burning stove and is comfortably furnished with easy chairs and a dining area.

The apartment is equiped with electric storage heating (included in the rental) and colour TV, radio, DVD and CD player.

All linen is included in the rental and beds will be made up before arrival. There is a washing machine on site for guests to use. There is a large garden with plenty of seating and free access to a B.B.Q for alfresco cuisine.

The bathroom has a bath with shower over.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome at our discretion.

Bed & Breakfast Rooms

Here at Alderholt Mill Bed & Breakfast, we are happy to invite guests into our traditional family home. We offer 1 double bedroom and 1 twin room all with en-suite shower rooms. Our B&B accommodation is in a separate wing of the house, therefore giving our residents a sense of privacy. All rooms are individually decorated and well furnished. Each room has colour TV, tea/coffee making facilities, and radio alarm clocks. The whole house is fully centrally heated using a ground source heat pump.

Our warm and homely residents dining and sitting room is tastefully decorated with comfortable furnishings. We offer a full English or light continental breakfast served around the large table. We use local produce wherever possible, especially New Forest Marque awarded produce.

During the summer months we have ample seating areas in our gardens; there is also a BBQ station that is available for use. We have no liquor licence but you are welcome to bring your own favourite tipple. We try to ensure that you have everything you need for a quiet peaceful stay, without being tied to time schedules. All guests will be offered a front door key to allow them to come and go as they please.
